Who is the APDDA?

Our Mission...

The Association of Professional Developmental Disabilities Administrators (APDDA) supports the continuous improvement of a comprehensive array of individual and accessible services designed to enhance the quality of life for persons with intellectual disabilities and other developmental disabilities.

The APDDA is a not-for-profit professional organization founded in 1970 in the State of Washington. We represent facilities across the United States. APDDA is the only national organization that focuses on the unique issues of administrators of public and private ICF/ID programs. APDDA also provides support for other individuals with interests in the field of intellectual and other developmental disabilities.

What We Do...

The primary purpose of the Association is to address the needs of people with intellectual disabilities and other developmental disabilities. Our focus and efforts include:

  • Member education and information services
  • Recognition of excellence in service management and delivery
  • Development of member networks
  • Advocacy of members' views
  • Interagency coordination and cooperation
  • Public education and awareness

Vision for the Future...

APDDA seeks to expand its role as an important professional organization that makes significant contributions in the ID/DD field through:

  • Promotion: Recognition of the role of ICF-IID providers as a valuable resource within the spectrum of ID/DD service provision.

    Demonstration of the professionalism and expertise of professionals working in ICF-IID residential programs.

    Identification of member's best practices and models of supports and service delivery.
  • Education: Professional development of members.
  • Collaboration: Increased work with other organizations.
  • Advocacy: Increased input into ICF-IID standards and regulations.
