MR/DD Associations and Organizations

AAMR

The American Association for Mental Retardation (AAMR) promotes progressive policies, sound research, effective practices, and universal human rights for people with intellectual disabilities.

ANCOR

Since 1970 the American Network of Community Options & Resources (ANCOR) has been the preeminent voice in Washington on behalf of private agencies that provide services and supports to people with mental retardation and other developmental disabilities.

AUCD

The Association of University Centers on Disabilities (AUCD) is the national association representing University Affiliated Programs (UAP), Maternal and Child Health Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities Programs (LEND), and the Developmental Disabilities Research Centers (DDRCs).

Arc (US)

The Arc of the United States is the national organization of and for people with mental retardation and related developmental disabilities and their families.

Down Syndrome

This is the original World Wide Web site composed of contributions from experienced professionals and knowledgeable parents who are subscribers to the Down Syndrome listserv and newsgroup, by the parents of a wonderful son who was diagnosed with Down Syndrome at birth in 1993.

FRAXA Research Foundation

Welcome to the FRAXA Research Foundation Website. Our mission is to support research aimed at treatment for Fraqile X syndrome.

JP DAS

The Developmental Disabilities Bulletin emphasizes articles with direct application to the education and provision of services for persons with mental retardation, learning disabilities, and multiple handicaps.

NACDD

The National Association of Developmental Disabilities Councils (NADDC) works to provide those with developmental disabilities the opportunities to make choices regarding the quality of their lives and be included in their communities.

NADD

The National Association for the Dually Diagnosed (NADD) is a nonprofit membership association established for professionals, care providers, and families to promote understanding of and services for individuals who have developmental disabilities and mental health needs.

NADSP

The National Alliance for Direct Support Professionals (NADSP) is a coalition of organizations and individuals committed to strengthening the quality of human service support by strengthening the direct support workforce.

RTC

The Research and Training Center on Community Living provides research, evaluation, training, technical assistance and dissemination to support the aspirations of persons with developmental disabilities to live full, productive and integrated lives in their communities.

SDPDD

The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation's National Program on Self-Determination for Persons with Developmental Disabilities (SDPDD) provides funds to 19 states to carry out self-determination activities. The program office is part of the Institute on Disability at the University of New Hampshire. The office makes available financial resources, technical assistance, and training support in self-determination. Several monographs, a video, an introduction to self-determination, and a National Public Radio broadcast are available.

The Council

The Council on Quality and Leadership is an international nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing the quality of services and supports to people with disabilities. This is accomplished through its accreditation services, training programs, and research division.

VOR

VOR is a national organization dedicated to ensuring that people with mental retardation and their families are able to access a full array of quality residential services and support options.

Waisman Center

The Waisman Center is dedicated to the advancement of knowledge about human development, developmental disabilities, and neurodegenerative diseases throughout the lifespan. The center is one of nine national facilities that includes a Mental Retardation Developmental Disabilities Research Center and a University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities.
